Don Hughes 73 passed away Saturday, September 22, 2007 in Dumas, Texas. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jay McGaughy, pastor of Temple Baptist Church officiating, assisted by Rev. H.L. Stevens, retired minister of Dumas. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery with flag detail by American Legion Post 224 of Dumas. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors.
Don Hughes was born September 14, 1934 in Strong City, Oklahoma to Green Jackson and Bertha Hughes. He served in the US Marine Corp. during the Korean War 1953-1955. On December 24, 1956 he married Barbara Absher . He owned and operated Hughes Masonry until his retirement in 1997. Don loved fishing and hunting. He had been a resident of Dumas for 50 years and was a member of Temple Baptist Church.
Survivors include; his wife Barbara of the home; son Terry Hughes and wife, Cathy of Amarillo; sister, Mildred Clawson of Dumas; brother, Jack Hughes and wife, Betty of Amarillo; mother-in-law, Mary Gomez of Dumas; grandchildren, Coby, Drew, Chase; great-grandchildren, Cayman, Lylah, Emory, Brighten, Brason; and his beloved pet and constant companion, Cindy.
