Don A. Newby

Don A. Newby, 50, of Dumas, passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2022. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 o’clock in the afternoon on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Temple Baptist Church in Dumas. Interment will follow at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are entrusted with Beeson-Morrison Funeral Directors.

Don was born May 24, 1971, in Amarillo, Tx to Roland and Virginia (Crumbley) Newby. He worked as a technician for Sparklight/CableOne. Don married Christi Smith on July 30, 2011, they made Dumas their home. He loved music and was a self-taught drummer and guitarist. Don loved to write songs, oil painting and grilling outdoors on the 4th of July. Don was the best “Papa” in the world and known as the family “Sage” and the life of the party. He had a love for animals and was known for carrying snacks for dogs in his work truck. Don fought hard to get better and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by grandparents and a niece.

Don is survived by his wife, Christi of the home; children: Miranda Brewer and husband Aaron and their son, Bruce of Amarillo, TX, Andy Newby of Dumas, TX, Karessa Newby and husband Jeremiah and their son, Jensen of Dumas, TX, Tyrell Eastep of Dumas, TX, Cody Eastep of Dumas, TX, Nathan Eastep and wife Mackenzie of Dumas, TX, Kristin Newby of Ohio, and Jeanie Newby of Florida; parents: numerous other family and friends; his loyal companions: Joey, Buster, Milli, and Saffron.
