Donald Getman

Donald Getman 76 of Dumas passed away Sunday, June 24, 2007. Services will be held at 3:00 PM, Thursday, June 28, 2007 at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Art Lynch, minister of First Street Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow in Dumas Cemetery with Flag Detail by American Legion Post 224. Mr. Getman was born November 12, 1930 in Amarillo, TX to Clarence and Leah Getman. He served in the Army from 1950 until 1953 receiving the Good Conduct Medal. In Tucumcari, NM on March 31, 1955, he married Marie Stanley who preceded him in death on December 20, 2004. He was a longtime Dumas resident and worked in the family business, Volcanic Stone, and was a member of the First Street Church of Christ. Donald was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved music. He enjoyed watching his wife and daughter dance and listening to his grandson sing. He loved a good game of dominos, boating and fishing. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rhonda Sue Getman; son, Danny Don Getman; brother, Frank Getman and sister, Leah Adell Reynolds. Survivors include: daughter, Sharon Reynolds and husband, Carl of Waldorf, MD; four brothers, Harlan Getman and wife, Corinne; Clarence Getman and wife, Dorthie, all of Dumas; Raymond Getman and wife, Loujean of Amarillo; Earl Getman and wife, Bonnie of Cactus; two grandsons Zachery Getman and wife Tamie; Allen Reynolds and wife, Deirdre of Newburg, MD; four great-grandchildren; Jeremy, Brandon, Nicholas and Haley.
