Donald W. Owens

Donald W. Owens 71 formerly of Dumas, passed away May 27, 2008. Services were held Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Madisonville Funeral Home. Donald was born June 1, 1936 in Tulia, Texas to Wayne and Kathryne Owens. He was raised in Dumas and was a graduate of Dumas High School. He enjoyed working on his land but his passion was sailing. He was an instructor for the American Sailing Association. He was racing in the National Finals at the time of his death. Don loved his dog, Bones and his two cats. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Richard and Dale Owens. Survivors include; his wife, Kay; sons, Scott Strong and wife, Karen of Sugar Land, Kevin Strong and wife, Tiffany of Bryan; two grandchildren; brother Harold Owens of Dumas; sisters, Peggy Hoefling and Joy Wilson of Dumas, Barbara Roberts of Louisburg, Kansas and Linda Thompson of Austin, who passed away June 7, 2008.
