Doris Hulsey

Doris Evelyn Hulsey, 84 of Dumas, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2015. Funeral Services are scheduled for 11 o\x92 clock in the morning on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at First Baptist Church with Pastor David Henry officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Northlawn Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be from 8:30-10 o\x92 clock in the morning on Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors. Doris was born on April 15, 1931 to Floyd and Edna (Stokes) Henry in Lubbock, TX. She graduated high school and attended Wayland Baptist University in Plainview. On November 22, 1950, she married Leon Hulsey in Clovis, NM and they were happily married for almost 65 years. In 1953, they moved to Dumas and have been a part of the community and members of First Baptist Church since then. Doris helped start the first kindergarten class at First Baptist Church over 50 years ago, taught children\x92s choir and led Girl Scout troops for many years. In her professional life, she worked in the insurance business for over 30 years, with Powell Century III and Town Center Insurance Agency. Some of her favorite past times had to do with her family. She loved cooking and baking for them and enjoyed serving them in any way she could. Doris appreciated every moment she had to spend with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading, arts and crafts and watching their sporting events. Doris will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She is preceded in death by: one son: Ricky Hulsey; four brothers, L.D., Buster, June and Tuffy Henry; and one grandson, Justin Hulsey. Doris is survived by her husband, Leon; two daughters, Carolyn Benson and husband John of Trophy Club, TX and Debbie Hendricks and husband Stephen of Dumas; one son, Jimmy Hulsey of Longview; one sister, Louise Wright and husband Lynn of Lubbock; ten grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church, PO BOX 617, Dumas, TX 79029 or Moore County Girls Trust, PO BOX 194, Dumas, TX 79029.
