Dorothy Sipes

Dorothy Sipes, 89 formerly of Dumas, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2024.  Funeral services are scheduled for 3 o'clock in the afternoon on Friday, February 16, 2024, at First Christian Church with Rev. Darrell Wait, pastor of the church, officiating.  Interment will follow in Northlawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.  The family will receive friends from 7 o'clock until 8 o'clock in the evening on Thursday at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.

Dorothy was born on October 14, 1934, in Leonard, TX to E.C. and Myrtle Blackshear. She was one of 15 children in a yours, mine and ours blended and beloved family.   Dorothy was united in marriage to Gene Sipes on July 4, 1952, in Dumas, TX; he preceded her in death. As a 3^rd grade teacher in Dumas, TX, she made a difference in the lives of many children for over 21 years.

Gene and Dorothy both being educators headed to Colorado each year in June with a summer home at Cottonwood Cove in Wagon Wheel Gap. They made many close friends there and enjoyed spending their time fishing and in fellowship with friends and family. They traveled extensively once retired and made friends wherever they went. Dorothy was devoted to her family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Dorothy was a member of First Christian Church in Dumas. 

In addition to her husband Gene, she was preceded in death by her parents; son: Randy; siblings: Farris Rowell and Peggy Ferguson.

Dorothy is survived by her son: Rodney and wife Leslie; daughter: Melissa and husband Jeff; grandchildren: Brandy Miller, Justin Sipes, Beau York, Makenzie Velazquez, Amber Gustin; great-grandchildren: Samantha Miller, Tate Miller, Patrick and Jack Gustin, Amelia and Judah Velazquez, Ian York; brothers: Royce Blackshear and Perry Blackshear.
