Dortha DJ Stewart 59 passed away Sunday, April 27, 2008 in Dumas, Texas. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 1, 2008 at First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Damon Akins, pastor of the church officiating, assisted by Rev. H.L. Stevens and Rev. Allen Turley both of Dumas. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. DJ was born October 25, 1948 in Wheeler, Texas to Joe and Dortha McNutt. On October 7, 1988 she married Norris Stewart. She was a retired Registered Professional Appraiser with the Moore County Appraisal District. She was also a Registered Tax Assessor, former member of Texas Association of School Bus Officials, president of the Pheasant Trails Lady Golf Association and a member of Moore Bullish Broad Investment Club. DJ had been a resident of Dumas and Moore County for 20 years. She loved to play golf, dance and shop on QVC. Survivors include; her husband, Norris; daughters, Terri Hermesmeyer of Happy, Christi Penland Pointer and husband, Joe of Oklahoma City; son, Kelly Penland and wife, Beth of Beaver, OK; daughters, Nortina Thoms and husband, Tim of Levelland, Patricia England and husband, Ray of Lubbock, and Sonia Martin and husband, Trent of League, Tx; sisters, Glenda Kay Ingalls of Mountainair, NM, Wanda J. DeWitt of Perryton, TX, and Sue Zan Montgomery of Pampa, TX; 16 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; many, many friends and her puppy Brandie Jo. She was preceded in death by her parents.
