Drussella Blankenburg Montgomery, 89, formerly of Dumas, passed away on Friday, September 21, 2012. Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at Morrison Memorial Chapel in Dumas. Pastor Daniel Blankenburg, youth pastor from More Church in Amarillo will be officiating. Interment will follow in Dumas Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Drussella was born on August 21, 1923 in Lookout Mountain, Tennessee to Floyd and Bertha Young. She honorably served her country in the Womens Army Air Corp, serving during WWII. Drussella had been a resident of Dumas for twenty years. Prior to that, she had lived in McLean and then Ft. Worth for several years. She was united in marriage to Paul Blankenburg, and together they raised three children. He preceded her in death. Drussella later married James Foster, and then Billy Montgomery, who both preceded her in death as well.
Drussella was a beloved and devoted wife and mother who loved taking care of her family. She loved going to the Moore County Senior Center, and was active in the VFW and the American Legion. She was also one of the founding members of Bible Baptist Church in Lefors. She enjoyed reading in her spare time. Drussella was very proud of her great grandson who is serving in the military. She will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Paul Blankenburg, James Foster, and Billy Montgomery one daughter, Rosemary Stone two brothers and one sister.
Drussella leaves behind two sons, Lee Blankenburg and wife Carolyn of Dumas, and Paul Blankenburg of Ft. Worth ten grandchildren, twentytwo great grandchildren and eleven greatgreat grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be made to a favorite charity.
