Dwayne Plunk

Dwayne Plunk, 78 of Stratford, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2020. Funeral Services are scheduled for 11 oclock in the morning on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at First United Methodist Church in Stratford with Pastor Damon Stalvey, pastor of the church officiating. Interment will follow at Stratford Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Friday from 7pm to 8pm in the evening at the funeral home. Dwayne was born on January 8, 1941 in Sherman County to Leonard Albert and Mae (Marshall) Plunk. He was raised in Stratford and graduated from Stratford High School. He went on to graduate from WT with his degree in teaching. He taught Texas History, American History and Drivers Education in Stratford for 33 years until his retirement. Dewayne married Peggy on November 24, 1972 in Stratford at the family home. After retirement, he enjoyed farming and following the Stratford Elks. Dewayne was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Stratford. He was preceded in death by his parents, son: Jim Everson and a brother in infancy. Dwayne is survived by his wife Peggy; children: Cheryl Sands of Guymon, OK, Kim Feemster and husband Rick of Kim, CO, Kevin Plunk of Amarillo, TX, LeRenda Mayes and husband Sammie and Wade Plunk all of Amarillo, TX; grandchildren: Heath Starnes and wife Laura, Brandon Starnes and wife Haley, Justin Starnes, Ashton Sansing and husband Austin, Alexa Neuman and husband Garrett, Laura Hales, Scot Plunk, Andrea McDonald and husband Scott, Robert Mayes, Chance Voit and fianc Janiece Gunter, and Macy Everson; brothers: Dennis Plunk and wife Chris of Dumas, TX and Charlie Plunk and wife Myrna of Mansfield, TX; and numerous extended family members.
