Edgar Wilson Butch Watkins 59 passed away Sunday, August 19, 2007 in Dumas, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, August 23, 2007 at Dumas Cemetery with Rev. Damon Akins, pastor of First Assembly of God Church and Rev. Jack Cornell, pastor of Midway Country Church, Logan, OK, officiating.
Butch was born November 13, 1947 in Amarillo, Texas to James and Mary Ernestine Watkins. He was a lifetime resident of Dumas and in 1966 he graduated from Dumas High School. He married Jackie Cornell on May 13, 1978. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church. Butch was a mechanic for several years and had been employed by Coffey Tire in Dumas for the past 26 years. Some of his favorite hobbies were spending time with his sons and his friends at the lake with his dune buggy, playing pool with his many friends and getting together with the PT Cruiser Club of Amarillo. He was a historian and loved the Old West, Native American and Texas history.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include: his wife, Jackie of the home; two sons, Lance Watkins and Presley Watkins both of Amarillo; two sisters, Mary Williamson of Dumas and Jerri Robins and husband, David of Amarillo; five nieces, Heather Weatherford and husband Kelly, Amber Tillman and husband Ronnie, Kellie Metts and husband, Garry, Ashley Wood and Alahna Mallett; nephew, Doug Williamson and wife, Lakrisha; 4 great-nieces, 3 great-nephews, two sisters-in-law, Rhonda Price and husband Jeff of Amarillo and Yvonna Mallett and husband, David of Red Deer, Alberta; and his mother-in-law Iris Cornell of Amarillo.
