Ellen Schollenbarger, 65, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2010 in Dumas. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 13 at First Street Church of Christ with Rev. Dan Martin, pastor of Liberty Baptist Church of Dalhart, officiating. Burial will follow in Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors.
Ellen Schollenbarger was born April 30, 1944 in Garden Grove, Iowa to Chester Chet and Bernice Hall. She attended school in Hugoton, KS. On July 23, 1964 she married her best friend and the love of her life Roy Schollenbarger Jr. in Liberal, KS. He preceded her in death on July 8, 2008. She worked at Dumas Cleaners for several years and at Dumas Junior High School in the cafeteria until she retired. Ellen and Roy traveled in their RV until 2007. Her hobby and special talent was homemade crafts. She loved to make thing for her family and friends. She had been a resident of Dumas since 1967.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and inlaws.
Survivors include daughters, Cindy Bodnar and husband, Steve of Dumas, Kim Roys and husband, Curtis of Sunray son, Brian Schollenbarger of Dumas sister, Marge Dupus and husband, Bob of Belton, MO brothers, Richard Hall and wife, Mary of Dumas, Tommy Hall and wife, Mary Jo of Fritch sisterinlaw, Sally Johnston and husband, Sam of Amarillo Grandchildren, Valerie, Daniel, Nathan, Lane, Heath, Alexandria, and Daved 5 greatgrandchildren numerous nieces and nephews and her best friend Kaye Ramey of Dumas.
The family suggest memorials be to Memorial Hospice, 224 E. 2nd, Dumas, TX 79029, Accolade Home Care, 201 Binkley, Dumas, TX 79029 or to the American Cancer Society, 3915 Bell St, Amarillo, TX 79109.
The family will be at 512 Elm in Dumas.
