Ernest Hanna, 86 of Dumas passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2021. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10 o’clock in the morning on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Ryan Rives and Pastor Mike Watson, officiating. Interment will follow at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 o’clock to 8 o’clock in the evening on Friday at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.Ernest was born on February 8, 1935 in Nara Visa, NM to George and Daisy (Cooper) Hanna. Ernest graduated from Nara Visa High School. After graduating he was drafted into the US Army and served 4 years in Germany and later at Ft. Polk, LA. On August 20, 1957, he married Jean Hanna in Stinnett, TX; she preceded him in death in 1997. Ernest worked at Diamond Shamrock where he retired after 20 years. He also served Moore County as a commissioner for 4 terms.Ernest had many interests and hobbies. He played basketball and tennis in his younger years and loved to snow ski with his cowboy hat on. Ernest was also very witty and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed people and was always willing to help anyone in need. His greatest love was being a cattleman and rancher. He was a member of First Baptist Church.In addition to his wife Jean, he was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, and sisters; grandson: Shane Hanna.Ernest is survived by his daughter: Tammy Rives and husband Randy of Denton, TX; son: Mike Hanna of Dumas, TX; grandchildren: Kym LaRue of Idaho Springs, CO, Kammie Hanna of Dumas, TX, Emily Gibson and husband Zack of Amarillo, TX, Ryan Rives and wife Kari of Sachse, TX, Jessica McAlister and husband Jason of Amarillo, TX; 11 great grandchildren; brother-in-law: Guy Kenney of Clermont, FL.The family suggests with gratitude memorials be made to a local favorite charity.
