Ernestine Tina Wheeler, 54 of Dalhart, passed away on Friday, April 6, 2012. The Rosary will be said at 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Morrison Memorial Chapel in Dumas. Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Dumas Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Ernestine was born October 8, 1957, in Raton, New Mexico, to Carolina Romero and Ernest Wheeler. She was raised in Dalhart. At age 17, she married Margarito Oropeza. They moved to Sublette, Kansas, where they lived until 1982. Ernestine then moved to California, where she raised her children. She was a devoted mother who worked hard so that her children never went without. She enjoyed her job in the health care field, until she returned to Dalhart in 1999, where she spent her time enjoying her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Tony Wheeler and Robert Olivo.
Ernestine is survived by three daughters, Julie Oropeza and Amanda Barraza of Dumas, Texas, and Margarita Oropeza of Garden City, Kansas three sons, Daniel Oropeza of El Roy, Arizona, Bobby Oropeza of Tulare, California, and David Oropeza of Corpus Christi, Texas ten grandchildren, Ivan, Nikole, and Isaiah Ortiz, Dajha Barraza, and Margarita, Ricky, Jose, Maria, Margarito, and Jesus Oropeza five greatgrandchildren four sisters, Elisabeth Wheeler, Florence Wheeler, Sarah Moreno, and Beatrice Olivo and one brother, Ernest Wheeler.
