Esther Woods, 97 of Stinnett, passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2012. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 in Kismet Cemetery, Kismet, Kansas. Rev. Zeb Sailors, retired pastor of the Church of Christ, will be officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Esther was born on January 5, 1915 in Haviland, Kansas to Frank and Leah Hayse Laird. She was united in marriage to Preston Harold Woods in 1935. He preceded her in death in 1988. Esther was a devoted homemaker who loved her family deeply. She had been a resident of Stinnett for almost fifty years.
Esther was an excellent cook, and always had something in the oven for her family to enjoy. She was a talented seamstress, and was a Home Demonstration Club Leader. She was known for being a perfectionist, always striving for the best in everything she did. Esther enjoyed spending time outdoors doing yard work and gardening. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
In addition to her husband, Preston, she was also preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Leah Laird her brothers, Joe Laird and Claude Laird and one sister, Geneva Thorpe.
Esther is survived by one daughter, Nancy Woods of Dallas one sister, Vesta Pinkerton of Missouri numerous nieces and nephews and her caregiver, Vickey Cordova.
The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity.
