Eva McDonald, 95, formerly of Dumas, passed away Monday November 08, 2010 in Katy, Texas. Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. on Friday, November 12, 2010 at Morrison Memorial Chapel in Dumas with Jim York, Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow in Dumas Cemetery. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors.
Eva was born on July 1, 1915 in a dugout near Rolla, Kansas, to Thomas Jefferson Johnson and Caroline Carroll Johnson. She graduated from high school in Boise City, Oklahoma. On February 8, 1936, Eva married C.A. Pete McDonald in Boise City. Eva and Pete have left a legacy in Dumas, as Pete poured most of the original sidewalks, curbing guttering in Dumas during the 1940s through his death in 1973. His stamp could be seen all around the original buildings in town, and a few still remain. Eva was a Dumas resident from 1944 through 1963, and again from 1971 through 1999. She resided in Stratford, Texas from 1964 until 1970.
Eva thoroughly enjoyed being a wife, mother, and homemaker. She kept a lovely home and enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, crocheting, beadwork, and gardening. She also loved bowling, and some of her fondest memories were of playing on her high school basketball team.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Pete McDonald and two of her children: her infant son Jimmy McDonald and her daughter, Judy McDonald White of Stratford.
Survivors include: one daughter, Caroll McDonald of Katy, Texas grandchildren, Christie Bice Causey, Frankie Bice Wehlmann, and Lori Bice White of Katy, Texas, Roy Bice of Dumas, and Pete White of Pflugerville, Texas ten greatgrandchildren, and six greatgreat grandchildren.
