Fern Eakin

Fern Eakin, 82, passed away Friday, April 10, 2009. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, April 13, 2009 at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Rev. Clay Wells, pastor of First Baptist Church, Follett officiating. Graveside services will be at 3:00 PM in Follett Cemetery, Follett, Texas. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Fern Eakin was born January 26, 1927 in Follett, Texas to George W. and Alice S. Stoughton. She graduated from Follett High School. On April 17, 1969 she married Kenneth E. Eakin at Canadian, Texas. She was a homemaker and loved to read, work crossword puzzles and crochet. She had been a resident of Dumas for 40 years. Survivors include; her husband, Kenneth of the home; sons, Lawrence Howerton of Kansas City, MO, and Jim Eakin and wife, Wanda of Amarillo; daughter, Mary Ives and husband Jesse of Follett; sister, Georgia Couch of Follett; sister-in-law, Ruth Stoughton of Dumas; nieces, Barbara Crump, Nina Robins; nephews, Billy Couch, James Stoughton Jr, George Stoughton, Ronnie Robins, David Robins, Mark Robins; 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Memorial Hospice, 224 E. 2nd, Dumas, TX. 79029 The family will be at 411 N. Meredith.
