Florence R Lopez

Florence R. Lopez, 93, of Dumas, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2017. The Rosary will be recited at 6 o'clock in the evening on Friday, February 10, 2017 at Morrison Memorial Chapel. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Gabriel Garcia as celebrant. Interment will follow at Northlawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Morrison Funeral Directors. Florence was born June 20, 1923 in Amarillo, TX to Florencio and Esther (Saabedena) Renteria. She had been a resident of the community since 1960. Florence was united in marriage to Mike (Tuffy) Lopez on September 26, 1937; he preceded her in death in 2002. Florence was an excellent cook and was known for her tamales and pies. She also enjoyed crafts and crocheting. Her biggest enjoyment was spending time with her family especially her grandchildren; family was very important to her. Florence will be dearly missed by her family and friends. In addition to her husband Mike she is preceded in death by brothers: Martin, Vincent, Albert, Fernando, and Santos Renteria. Florence is survived by her daughters: Margarite Bishop and husband Paul of Amarillo and Beatrice Doak and husband Johnny of Borger; sons: Johnny Lopez of Houston and Mike Lopez and wife Shirley of Borger; sisters: Jean Palacio, Luz Gutierrez, Benita Ruiz; brothers: Luis, Tony, and Raymond Renteria; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren. The family suggests with gratitude memorials be made to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Building Fund, PO Box 503, Dumas, TX 79029. The family will be at 616 Pear.
