Floyd Blackburn, 81, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2010. Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 5, at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Mark Wallis, pastor of Life Tabernacle officiating. A private burial will be held at Dumas Cemetery. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors.
Floyd Blackburn was born October 18, 1928 in Weatherford, Texas to Jack and Audie Blackburn. In 1951 he graduated from Texas A M University School of Veterinary Medicine. On August 4, 1951 he married Mary Isabel Ludwick and they moved to Dumas in 1952. She preceded him in death in 1976. On January 8, 1977 he married Neenah Collier and she preceded him in death August, 2009. He was a veterinarian from 1952 until 1996 and was a long time cattleman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, horse racing and working.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Richard Blackburn in 1999 and his sister, Billie Jean Chilcutt in 2008.
Survivors include his sons, David Blackburn and wife Linda of Mocksville, NC and Russell Blackburn of College Station daughters, Barbara Blackburn of Gonzales, Lauren Richmond and husband, Mark of Rockford, MI, Martha Pease and husband, Allen of Leawood, KS, Lynn Harbert and husband Darrel of Dumas, and Kimi Dove and husband, Tom of Harker Heights sisters, Jacquelyn Herring of Briggs and Linda Vick of Ft. Worth eight grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Edilberto Miguel and the staff of Memorial Hospital, Memorial Nursing and Rehab, and Memorial Hospice for the loving care Floyd received his last months.
The family suggests memorials be to Meals on Wheels, PO Box 1535, Dumas, TX 79029.
The family will be at 309 Robin Road in Dumas.
