Frank Edward (Frank Ed) James, 75, of Dumas, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.

A Funeral Service will be held at Morrison Funeral Home in Dumas, Texas on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at 2 pm. The burial will be at Stratford Cemetery in Stratford, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.

Frank was born on June 13, 1948, in Wichita Falls, Texas to Frank Cannon and Kittie Lee Robeson James. He graduated from Rule High School in Rule, Texas in 1967. He was active in FFA and did one act plays. He found his love for reading in the school library and read every book they had. This led to a lifelong achievement of the number of books he would read. After graduation, he moved to Spearman, TX.

Frank married Juana Freeman on November 14, 1975, in Spearman, Texas. They had just celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary.

Frank worked for Permian Corporation as a lead driver in Dumas and Canadian, TX and Forgan, OK.  He also worked for Schlumberger Offshore Services for 28 years as a general operator. He started in Dumas on land then went on to Graham, TX. He worked offshore out of Houston, TX and New Orleans, LA. He retired in 2002.

Frank is survived by his wife, a son, Shawn James and wife Stacy of Clarksville, TN and a daughter, Misty (James) Clements and husband James of Canyon, TX. Frank had 4 wonderful grandchildren whom he adored very much, Kolton, Derrek and Tanner Clements and Lauren James. He had 3 sisters Patricia James-Martinez and husband Marty, Nelda Jean (Jeanne) James and Sue Callicoatte and husband Guy. Sister in laws, Mary Jane Price and Doris Freeman. He had many special friends, nieces, and nephews who loved him dearly.

He was greeted at the pearly gates of Heaven by his dad, Frank Cannon and mom Kittie James Howell and a sister Linda Kay, his precious in-laws, Paul & Irene Freeman, and brothers-in-law Gary Price and James (Jimmy) and Ronald Eugene (Gene) Freeman.

Frank was a loving husband, daddy and papa. He would do anything for anyone at any time. He was a positive, hardworking and enthusiastic person who loved his Dr. Pepper! In his retirement, he loved to help the elderly, be part of the Lions’ Club and canning everything he could from his garden.

The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice, and the Moore County Ambulance and Fire Department for the care they provided over the last year.

Daddy was loved by many and will truly be missed. Until I see you again, remember, I love you more!
