Gail Almendinger, 88 of Dumas, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10 o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at First Methodist Church, with Pastor Matt Brown, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo, TX. The family will receive friends from 6 o’clock to 7 o’clock in the evening on Tuesday at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ` Morrison Funeral Directors.
Gail was born on January 30, 1936, in Grafton, N.D. to Peter and Runa Brims. Gail attended school in Grafton, N.D. and graduated from High School in 1954. During high school she played in the band. She was very proud that one year the Grafton band was selected to play in the Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida. Gail was also a very good singer and sang in the church choir for several years. After high school she attended a medical school in Minneapolis and became an X-Ray technician. She worked in that field for about 5 years.
On June 15, 1957, Gail married James Almendinger in Grafton, N.D. They had two daughters, Sandra Carlile of Amarillo, TX and Jody Plunk. Jim’s job took them to Omaha, Chicago, Sioux City, and Dumas, TX. In Dumas both Jim and Gail worked for Swift and both retired there.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter: Jody Plunk, and granddaughter: Meagan Daniels.
Gail is survived by her husband, James Almendinger, sister: Judy Ekanger and husband Bob; daughter: Sandra Carlile; grandchildren: Carmen Brittain, Jessica Brittain, and Derrick Plunk; nephew: Chad Ekanger and wife Ginger; niece: Debbie Dohrmann and husband John; 5 great grandchildren and several great nieces and nephews.
Gail was very religious and devoted to her family. She was a wonderful wife and mother.
