Gene Tate, 85 formerly of Dumas, passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 o’clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Temple Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Fobbs, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment will follow in Brown Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends from 6 o’clock until 8, o’clock in the evening on Tuesday at the funeral home.Gene was born March 31, 1936, in Ardmore Oklahoma to Esley and Ola Mae Tate. He grew up in Sunray, Texas where he graduated in 1956. After graduation, he honorably served in the US Army. He was united in marriage to Dorris Krapf on July 7, 1962, and they were blessed with three children. He worked at cactus feeders for 20 years he owned Tate’s boot shop for 25 years. He then moved to Custer, Washington where he owned and operated Dorris’s Donuts for 15 years.Gene was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Margie, Shirley, Gloria Mae and brother Tracy.Gene is survived by his wife Dorris Tate of Custer Washington; son: Raymond Tate and wife Karen Tate of Dumas Texas; daughters Lisa Tate and Kelli Miller and husband Ron of Custer Washington; sister: Georgia Miller of Lubbock, TX; grandchildren: Blake Tate of Dumas Texas, Brittney and husband Josh Carter of Guymon Oklahoma, Sabrina, Mackenzie and Marisa Miller of Custer Washington, Shawn and Ashley Anderson of Stephenville Texas, Fred and Sierra Roscoe of Malone Florida, Christopher and Angelica Roscoe of Dumas Texas and 10 great grandchildren.
