Geneva Patterson Pierce, 95, formerly of Dumas, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2012, surrounded by loved ones. Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. on Friday, March 2, 2012 at First Baptist Church in Dumas. Rev. Jerry Howe, pastor of the church will be officiating. Interment will follow in Northlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Geneva was born on May 20, 1916 in Stephenville, Texas to Lloyd and Leola Patterson. She was united in marriage to Ernest Dutch Pierce on November 5, 1938 in Potosi, Texas near Abilene. They moved to Dumas in 1943, where they shared their life together until 2002 when they moved to McKinney, Texas. He preceded her in death in 2003. Geneva had recently moved to Van Alstyne, Texas. She was a beloved and devoted homemaker who raised five children. She had been a member of First Baptist Church in Dumas since 1943. Geneva loved her family and she will be greatly missed in their lives.
In addition to her husband, Ernest Dutch Pierce, she was also preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Leola Patterson, and a brother, Hilliard Pat Patterson.
Geneva is survived by five children, Lloyd Pierce of Cocoa, FL, Herman Pierce and wife Grace of Las Vegas, NV, Lynda Pierce Peugh of Dallas, Etta Jean Pierce of Van Alstyne, and Oma Pierce Conn and husband George of Cedar Hill, TX ten grandchildren, Sylvia Pierce Hall of Olive Branch, MS, Mendy Peugh of Anna, TX, Heather Leigh Peugh of Dallas, Stephanie Pierce Taylor of Las Vegas, Robin Pierce Crockett of Las Vegas, Alesha Drake Crowell of Van Alstyne, Jennifer Drake Johnston of McKinney, Norman Lyles of Cedar Hill, Amy Conn of Dallas, and Crystal Gonzalez of Escondido, CA and thirteen great grandchildren, Brittni Vick and Chad Hall, both of Olive Branch, MI, Chloe Crockett, Pierce Taylor, Simon Crockett, Stella Crockett, and Elliott Crockett, all of Las Vegas, Kennedy Crowell and Drake Crowell of Van Alstyne, Dalton Lyles and Wyatt Lyles of Cedar Hill, and Gabriel and Marissa Gonzalez of Escondido, CA.
