George Thomas Morris

George Jeep Morris, 62, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2011. Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at Temple Baptist Church in Dumas. Rev. Jay McGaughy, pastor of the church will be officiating. Interment will follow in Northlawn Memorial Gardens. A flag detail will be provided by American Legion Post 224 of Dumas. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Jeep was born on April 30, 1949 in Wellington, Texas to Bill and Fae Morris. He graduated from Dumas High School. After graduation, he went on to serve his country in the US Navy as a Operation Specialist Chief Petty Officer from 1968 to 1989. He received the following medals during his service: Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal, Navy Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam RVN Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam RVN Campaign Medal, Navy Sea Service Deployment, National Defense Service Medal, NATO Meritorious Service Medal, and the Navy Expert Pistol Medal. Jeep married Ronetta Griffin on May 9, 1994 in Dumas. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church. He had several hobbies. He was a collector of Knives, Guns and coins. He enjoyed reading, woodworking, and was very interested in history. He was also an avid John Wayne fan. Jeep enjoyed riding motorcycles and he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Allen Morris. Jeep is survived by his wife, Ronetta Morris of Elizabethton, Tennessee his children, Noel Nagrampa and Melita Nagrampa of Hawaii, Jerred Loven and wife Kim of Bushland, Texas, Heath Loven and wife Jamie of Fritch, Carly Black of Stinnett, and Jesse Mae Floyd and husband Bryon of Fritch two sisters, Billine Solomon of Dumas and Stacie Backhaus of Ponca City, Oklahoma twelve grandchildren, one greatgrandchild and many loving nieces and nephews. The family suggest memorials be to Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256 or to Paralyzed Veterans of America, PVA: Donation Processing Center, 7 Mill Brook Rd, Wilton, NH 03086. The family will be at 524 Spruce in Dumas.
