Georgia Ann \x93Annie\x94 Cooper, 73 of Dumas, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2015. Private family burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 3 o\x92clock in the afternoon to 5 o\x92clock in the afternoon on Sunday, March 8, 2015. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Services are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors. Annie was born on May 15, 1941 to Jessie and Wynona Cooper. She grew up on a farm 10 miles N of Dumas. Annie was a graduate of Dumas High School and went on to graduate from Texas Tech. She was a member of Phi Mu Sorority and the Rodeo Club. She earned her degree in Education. Annie taught school in Cimarron and Eagle Nest, NM for 14 years as a kindergarten teacher. Annie moved back to Dumas to care for her parents. She taught at various schools in the community. She began at Morningside teaching third grade, Hartley High School art class, and Cactus teaching preschool. Her love for animals was like no other. All her life she rescued everything she could; a highlander steer, lots of cats and dogs, skunks, birds, and anything else she found. She even feed her scraps to the coyotes for a while, until she found out they were killing her cats. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister: Sue Hensley. Annie is survived by five nieces and a nephew: Jimmy and Paula Hensley and their children: Ben and Jamie Hensley; Sissy Hensley Littlefield and her sons Zack Ferguson and Joel Odom; Patty Tims and her sons: Jessie, John, Elizabeth and Davida; Martha and Aubrey Latham and their children: Samra Latham and Dee Tapello and a nephew: Sam Cooper Hensley. The family requests memorials be made to Memorial Hospice 224 # 2nd or Dawgs Animal Shelter, 12080 County Road 38, Dalhart, TX 79022.
