Georgia Pauline Jones, 90 of Amarillo, formerly of Dumas, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2011. Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. on Monday, December 19, 2011 at Morrison Memorial Chapel in Dumas. Rev. Wayne Griffin, pastor of Second Baptist Church in Amarillo, will be officiating. Interment will follow in Dumas Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Georgia was born on November 23, 1921 in Alvarado, Texas to Sam and Nora Beavers. She was united in marriage to Nelson Justice Jones on July 14, 1937 in Alvord, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1979. Georgia was a wonderful cook, and worked in a bakery for many years. She was also employed as a nurses aide at Dumas Nursing Home. She had been a resident of Dumas, before recently moving to Amarillo. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Amarillo.
Georgia was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and aunt, who loved her family deeply. She was very talented lady, spending her time on various craft projects. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and making dolls. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
In addition to her husband, Nelson, she was preceded in death by her parents four brothers, T. J. Beavers, Jack Beavers, Bill Beavers and Frank Beavers two sisters, Doris Carpenter and Lucille Sanders one grandson, Arnold Wayne Bean and one greatgrandson, William Craigmiles.
Georgia is survived by three daughters, Peggy Craigmiles and husband Terry of Dumas, Melba Jean Dixon and husband Dwain of Amarillo, and Georgia LaRue Bean and husband Buddy of Colleyville one brother, Sam Marshall Beavers II and wife Shirley of Bedford her grandchildren, Karen Rogers and husband Byron of Lubbock, Danny Craigmiles and wife Cathy of Dumas, Nora Cornelius and husband Kyle of Borger, Lee Dixon and Wife Gwyn of Pearland, Paula Johnson and husband Scott of Burns, TN, Steven Dixon and wife Mev of Amarillo, Ed Dixon and wife Karen of Ft. Worth, Sandra Mullard and husband Terry of Ft. Worth, Darrell Bean and wife Linda of North Richland Hills, Tim Bean and wife Vikki of Colleyville, and Jody Fisher and husband Major Kevin Fisher of Spangdahlem Air Force Base in Germany two sistersinlaw, Neta Mae Beavers of Quanah, and Shirely Beavers of Watauga twentytwo greatgrandchildren eighteen great greatgrandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
