Geral 'Mac' McElroy, 77 of Dalhart, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2016. Memorial services are scheduled for 10 o'clock in the morning on Friday, June 17, 2016 at Lincoln Street Baptist Church with Rev. Rusty Hancock, pastor of the church, officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
'Mac' was born on December 27, 1938 in Waco TX to Elmer and Jeraldine (Williams) McElroy. He moved to Dalhart in 1942 with his family where he was raised. 'Mac' honorably served his country for two years in the United States Army. 'Mac' worked for the City of Dalhart as a mechanic and later continued working as a mechanic for New Holland in Dalhart. He married the love of his life, Antonia 'Toni' Ramirez Kelling, on December 31, 1988 in Dalhart. 'Mac' was a member of the Lincoln Street Baptist Church and loved to drink coffee with his friends and his son.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and a baby daughter.
He is survived by his wife Antonia 'Toni' of the home; sons: Hoyt McElroy and friend Charlene Moody of Dalhart, Blain McElroy of Amarillo, and Clay McElroy and wife Tonya of Garden City, KS; two step sons: Rudy Maestas and wife Lorraine of Logan, NM and Alex Kelling and wife Dawn of Dalhart; 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and his best friends, Alvin Ringo and Barney Basaldua.
