Gilbert Vern Richards

Gilbert Gib Richards, 83, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2007 in Dumas, Texas. Services will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2007, at 10:00 AM in Morrison Memorial Chapel with Rev. Beth Harrington, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Dumas Cemetery. Gib was born June 15, 1923 in Stratton, Nebraska to Prier and Blanche Richards. He served two years in the United States Navy during World War II. In August 1951 he married Esta Stinnette who preceded him in death November 2002. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Hamilton. He had been a resident of Dumas since 1976 and was a longtime member of the Dumas Noon Lions Club. Gib worked for Colorado Interstate Gas for 40 years retiring in July 1987. Survivors include; daughter, Sheri Arterburn and husband Ron of Whitewater, CO; two brothers, Dale Richards of Van Nuys, CA. and Wayne Richards of McCook, NE; two granddaughters, Gabrielle Arterburn and Tara Arterburn of Whitewater, CO and several nieces and nephews including Wade and Kent Richards.
