Gladys Irene Marquis

Gladys Irene Marquis 93, of Dumas went to be with her Heavenly Father May 23, 2010 in Dumas. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Thursday May 27, 2010 at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Deacon Nick Higgins of The Oasis Church in Farmington New Mexico officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Gladys was born June 1, 1916 in Rolla KS to Lewis Ellexson and Archie Carter. She was reared and educated in Turpin Oklahoma where she graduated high school. On July 4, 1938 she married the love of her life, Herbert Marquis. Gladys was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Dumas. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, quilting, and politics. She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother Marvin Carter and a sister Irene Baugh. She is survived by a brother Buster Ellexson of California and several cousins, nieces and nephews. The family suggest memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church PO Box 1118, Dumas TX 79029.
