Glenda Charlene Rounsaville Norman long time Dumas resident and fixture of the community passed away December 17, 2018. Memorial services will be conducted at 1 o'clock in the afternoon on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at First Street Church with TK Baker officiating. Private family burial will be in the Dumas Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends from 5 o'clock until 7 o'clock in the evening on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Glenda was born April 1, 1937 in Ola, Arkansas, and moved to Dalhart, TX in 1941 where she graduated high school in 1955. After graduation she was employed at General Telephone Company of the Southwest. She married John Norman June 30, 1957.
She has two children, Stanley and his wife Denise Norman of Dumas and Johnette and her husband Brent Clark of Dumas. Four grandchildren, Beth Ann Lindsey of Amarillo, Paul and wife Sara Norman of Beaumont, Aliese Abraham of Lubbock, and Emmy and Mackey Crawford of Dumas. Glenda has four great grandchildren, IvoryAnn Crawford, Gracyn Abraham, BrentLee Mae Crawford, and Lawson Lindsey. Sister, Lois Stanley of Dalhart, Brother, Jay and his wife Carole Rounsaville of Bowie.
For twenty-five years Glenda worked for Dr. Forbus at Family Dentistry. After retiring she became a permanent substitute teacher for the Dumas Independent School District to be closer to her grandchildren. She was even honored with the substitute teacher of the year award during her tenure.
Glenda truly put God and family first. Her life was devoted to supporting those she loved. She will undoubtedly be missed.
