Glenn Alvin Deen

March 1, 1926 — February 20, 2011

Glenn Deeno Alvin Deen, 84, passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2011. Memorial services are scheduled for 3:00 P.M. on Friday, February 25, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church in Dumas. Rev. John Conley, pastor of the church will be officiating. Interment will follow in Northlawn Memorial Gardens with a flag detail provided by American Legion Post 224 of Dumas. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Glenn was the eldest of three sons, born on March 1, 1926 in Tucumcari, NM to Homer and Ruby Deen. He graduated from Tucumcari High School. In 1946 he was drafted into the Army, where he served one year in Japan. He went from private to staff sergeant during his service. After his discharge, he worked for the railroad as a signal maintainer. Glenn met and married Frances Colleen Gray in 1947 in Bisbee, Arizona. He attended NM AM University where he majored in agriculture and graduated in three years. After graduation he moved to Brawley, California where he worked for Orita Land Cattle Co. In 1963, they moved to Clovis, New Mexico to organize the NM Cattle Supply, a feed supplement company. They then moved to Dumas in the mid 1960s to start Texas Beef Producers and numerous other partnerships within the cattle industry. Glenn was a man of integrity and would do business with a handshake. Glenn was a man of strong Christian faith. He loved to fish, golf and dance. He had a great passion for life. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Glenn was very patriotic, and was well respected by his colleagues. He was loved by his family and all of his friends, and he will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by one brother, Bill Deen one daughter, Sandra Deen and two sons, Danny Deen and Paul Deen. Glenn is survived by two daughters, Helen Gray of Rochester, NY and Peggy Deen of Raleigh, NC one brother, Homer Deen and wife Claudie of Phoenix, AZ two grandchildren, Patricia Nauhix of Rochester, NY and Timothy Nau of Raleigh, NC five greatgrandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. They would also like to thank the VA Hospital and the hospice staff for all of their care and support. In lieu of flowers, they family requests memorials be to a favorite charity. The family will be at 503 Bradley in Dumas.
