Wilburn Fields, 84 of Dumas, passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2012. Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. on Friday, July 20, 2012 at Northlawn Memorial Gardens in Dumas. Rev. Jerry Howe, pastor of First Baptist Church will be officiating. A flag detail will be provided by American Legion Post 224 of Dumas. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Wilburn was born on July 30, 1927 in Coleman, Texas to Johnny and Maudy Roberts Field. He honorably served his country in the US Army from 1945 to 1947. Wilburn was united in marriage to Gracie Bell Debrular, and they happily shared their life together for fortythree years. She preceded him in death in February, 1999. Wilburn had been a resident of Dumas since 1987. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Wilburn worked as a truck driver until his retirement. He loved traveling the open road. Wilburn was very devoted to his family. He loved to play dominoes in his spare time. He was loved by all who knew him and will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gracie, his parents, and his sister, Janet Fields.
Wilburn leaves behind two daughters, Kathy Lindsey of Lubbock and Rachel Hinsley of Dumas two sons, Johnny Fields and Roy Fields, both of Dumas nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
The family will be at 819 NE 8th in Dumas.
