Guadalupe "Lupe" Thornton, 76 of Dumas, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2020. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 2 oclock in the afternoon on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Christ the King Catholic Church with Father Ron Matthew as celebrant. Interment will follow at Lane Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.
Lupe was born on July 6, 1944 in Laredo, TX to Maria Puente. She married Eddie Thornton on April 22, 1970 in Sunray, TX. She worked at Sunray State Bank for over 16 years then at Shamrock Federal Credit Union until she retired.
Nana loved to travel with her husband and family. She loved to visit her family in south Texas and was very close with her daughter, mother, grandmother and extended family. Nana loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She never missed an event they were involved in and could always be seen sitting in the stands or bleachers cheering them on. Nana loved country music, western tv shows, her daily soap operas and cooking. Nana was always busy in the kitchen, and she especially made Thanksgiving and Christmas special. She was always happiest with her husband and family surrounding her.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Maria Lara; sister: Olga Cantu; son-in-law: David Trevino.
Lupe is survived by her husband, Eddie, of the home; daughter: Mary Sintas and husband William of Amarillo; brothers: Joe Lara and Manuel Lara both of Laredo, TX, Jesus Lara of San Antonio, TX; sister: Rosario Valenzuela of Laredo, TX; grandchildren: Faith Trevino of Amarillo, Alexis Trevino of Amarillo, Ashley and John Denbow of Amarillo, Austin and Jewl Trevino of Amarillo, Aliza and Amy Trevino. The most loved little treasures of her life were her great-grandchildren- Nova and Dax and Rhylee and Emma. She was happiest when they were near.
