Gwyneth King

Gwyneth 'Gwyn' King, 56 of Dumas, passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2019. A Funeral Service is scheduled for 10 o'clock in the morning on Friday, February 22, 2019 at Temple Baptist Church with Grady Burkhalter and Chris Fobbs, officiating. Cremation will follow the service. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 o'clock until 8 o'clock in the evening at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors. Gwyn was born on June 8, 1962 in Moreland, OK to Billy and Leoda (Keith) Burkhalter. On March 16, 1991 she was united in marriage to George King in Dumas. Gwyn attended schools in Dumas and then went on to attend Amarillo College where she was pursuing a nursing degree. She loved the outdoors especially camping and fishing. She also enjoyed hobbies such as sewing and quilting. Above all she loved her grandchildren. Gwyn was a member of Temple Baptist Church and will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her father; brother: Scott Burkhalter; and nephew: Braden Jax Burkhalter. Gwyn is survived by her husband George, of the home; children: Kendra McDonald and husband James of Weatherford, TX, Crista Brooks and David E. of Clovis, NM, and Scotti De La O and Steven of Dumas; grandchildren: Maeci Jo Day, Chloe Brooks, Kiara Brooks, Troy Scott Whitaker, David Evanson, Kambree Evanson, Maeson McDonald, Rebekah McDonald, and Annie Jo McDonald; her mother: Leoda Burkhalter of Dumas; sister: Kathy Baldwin and husband Mike of Dumas; and brother: Grady Burkhalter and wife Leslie of Dumas; several nieces and nephews. The family suggests, with gratitude, memorials be made to Temple Baptist Church, 311 N. Maddox, Dumas, TX 79029.
