Harold "Poe" Keener, 82 of Stratford, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2020. Memorial services are scheduled for 2 oclock in the afternoon on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at the First United Methodist Church in Stratford, TX with Rev. Kevin Phillips, pastor of the church and Rev. Michael Rinne, pastor of First Baptist Church in Stratford, officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Beeson-Morrison Funeral Directors.
Harold was born August 27, 1938 in Stratford, TX to Ralph and Melba (Turner). He graduated from Stratford High School and remained an avid Stratford Elk fan by attending every game and supporting all sports. He married Linda Taylor on December 13, 1958 in Lamar, Colorado and the couple made Stratford their home for 62 years. Harolds colorful personality and sports stories were well known. He was a simple man who loved his bib overalls and taking vacations in Lake City, Colorado. As a "Jeeper", he loved the high country. Harold also had a passion for Irish Setters and collected anything about them. One of his favorite past times after retirement was to sit and watch Gunsmoke. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Gregory Mark and Sherrydon Arnell; son: Ralph Ray and brother in law: Bill Taylor.
Harold is survived by his wife Linda of the home: sons: Mark Keener and wife Trisha of Stratford, TX and Jere Keener and wife Terri of Guymon, OK; grandchildren: Kelsie Daves and husband Brannon of Stratford, TX, Klinton Keener and wife Brianda of Amarillo, TX, Kyler Kirkwood and wife Abbie of Amarillo, TX, Dylan Keener of Wylie, TX, Michael Ortega of Wylie, TX, Erin Sellers and husband Ty of Amarillo, TX, Ethan Boren and wife Taryn of Borger, Emma Boren and Terry Menefield of Amarillo, TX, Reed Schoonover and wife Sierra, Rett Schoonover and Savannah Bartlett and Rese Schoonover all of Stratford, TX; sister: Missie Devereaux and husband Rick of Bailey, CO; brother in law: Doug Taylor of Kerrick, TX; and 16 great grandchildren.
