Harold Noah Keisling 80 passed away Friday, June 20, 2008 in Amarillo, Texas. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Jay McGaughy, pastor of Temple Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors.
Harold Noah Keisling was born August 27, 1927 in Bledsoe, Texas to Carrie and Charlie Irvin Keisling. He grew up in Plainview, Texas as the eighth child in a family of ten siblings. On December 16, 1946 he married Mary Lou Monroe. They began their life together in Plainview and moved to Sunray in 1959 where they lived for 32 years. In 1991 they moved to Dumas. He served on the board of directors for the Sunray Co-Op; serving 10 years as secretary of the board. Harold also served on the board of directors for Moore County Appraisal District and the American Soil Conservation Service. While frequenting their home in Red River, New Mexico, he joined the First Baptist Church there, and was instrumental in acquiring property and raising funds for a new church facility. He was also a member of Temple Baptist Church.
Harolds friends and family will always remember him as a generous person. Whenever there was a child, grandchild, extended family member or friend in need he was the first person to offer a helping hand. His love of family extended from his heritage to his legacy. In 1972, Harold and Mary Lou began researching the Keisling family genealogy and acquired a great collection of family photos and memorabilia to share with future generations. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren still enjoy attending the annual Keisling Family Reunion that had been important to him for 50 years. As much as we missed him at the reunion the day after his passing, we knew that he was having the best reunion of all.
The family of Harold Keisling would like to thank the kind people of Childers Place and the nurses and caregivers of BSA Hospice.
