Hazel Black, 92 formerly of Dumas, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 2 oclock in the afternoon on Monday, December 9, 2019 at Morrison Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow in the Dumas Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Black will be available for viewing on Monday from 10 oclock in the morning until 1 oclock that afternoon.
Hazel was born on September 12, 1927 in Depue, OK to John and Beatrice Brown. She attended school and graduated from Shawnee High School in Shawnee, OK. Hazel married "Dub" Black on August 1, 1947 in Dalhart, TX and the family moved to Dumas in 1952 where they would raise their family and make their home. Hazel was a charter member of the North Plains Christian Church in 1961 and was a devoted and faithful member there. Hazel was also an exceptional seamstress and enjoyed singing.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; husband "Dub" in 1987; five brothers and three sisters.
Hazel is survived by her sons: Glen Black and wife Jamie of Grapevine, TX, David Black and wife Luanne of Amarillo, TX and Chris Black of Dumas, TX; sister: Mary Petty of Hemet, CA; grandchildren: Sarah, Matthew, Andrew, Tara, and James; great grandchildren: Everett, Owen, Emma, Faith, Harlie and Jazzy; numerous other extended family members.
