Hazel M. Estep, 82 of Dumas, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2012. Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. on Monday, March 19, 2012 at Calvary Baptist Church in Dumas. Rev. Brad Foster, pastor of the church will be officiating, assisted by Rev. Jay McGaughy, pastor of Temple Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Northlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 18, 2012 at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Hazel was born on May 1, 1929 in Atoka, Oklahoma to Charlie and Lena Hix Short. She was united in marriage to Ben Estep on June 4, 1947 in Durant, Oklahoma. They have shared their life together in the Dumas community for fortysix years. Hazel was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Dumas.
Hazel was a loving and devoted wife and homemaker who loved taking care of her family. She was a wonderful mother to her children, and grandmother to their children. She loved her family dearly. She was a good cook, and enjoyed cooking family dinners. She also enjoyed singing her favorite church hymns. She was a kind and gentle lady, who was a blessing to everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Lena Short, three brothers, two sisters, one son, Danny Estep, and one grandchild, Chad Green.
Hazel is survived by her husband, Ben of the home two daughters, Linda Collins and husband Richard and Laurie Green and husband Sweetie, all of Dumas two sons, Rick Estep of Amarillo and Lonnie Estep of Fritch nine grandchildren, Cindy Hall of Hobbs, NM, Tracie McKee of Amarillo, Kristopher Estep of Amarillo, Jason Estep and wife Josie of Canyon, Rian Estep of Amarillo, Brandon Green of Amarillo, Bud Estep and wife Amber of Fritch, Brittney Robinson of Amarillo, and Raelee Estep and fianc Colt Nivens of Fritch two brothers, Virgil Short and wife Norma of Calera, OK and Calvin Short and wife Majel of Pembroke ME twelve greatgrandchildren numerous other family members and special friend, LaTrice Garth of Dumas.
