Helen Fern White, 93, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 28, 2011. Per request of the family, there will not be any services scheduled at this time. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors.
Helen was born in Logan, New Mexico on April 30, 1917 to Guy Lela White. She spent her childhood in Chama, New Mexico where she learned to love fishing, hunting and snow skiing. She was especially fond of Chama where, by her request, her cremains will be scattered.
Helen later lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico where she worked at a dry cleaning business owned by her mother, Lela. She worked and raised her family in two states, New Mexico and Indiana.
Helen loved the art, jewelry, and culture of New Mexico. For a few years she owned her own turquoise jewelry business. Her parents owned a ranch outside of Santa Fe and Helen spent many happy times there with her family.
Helen spent the last 38 years of her life in Dumas, Texas. She enjoyed traveling and ceramics. She has been on a tour of Europe, visited St. Croix, and loved a trip to Chicago to see her beloved Cubbies. Helen treasured the times spent with her family. The greatest gift she had was her love. She had a gracious way of making you feel special when you were with her. She will be dearly missed. Each of her children have many fond memories of their dear mother, Mimi.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Betty Cline and Joy McAvoy, two granddaughters, Donna White and Helen McDonough, and two infant grandsons, Guy White and Joseph Sandorskey.
