Herbert Olivarez, 50 of Dumas passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2021. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 2 o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, January 3, 2022, at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Laquita Jones, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.
Herbert was born on April 7, 1971, in Dumas, TX to Ediheberto and Annabell (Reyna) Olivarez. He grew up in Albuquerque and Muleshoe where he graduated high school in 1990. He had been a resident of Dumas for the past 30 years. Herbert was a firefighter and EMT with the Dumas Fire Department and had retired after 14 years with the rank of lieutenant. After retirement, Herbert was a business owner and worked at South Plains Precision Agriculture. He loved all kinds of sports with his favorite being golf. Of all his accomplishments, he was most proud of being a grandpa to his grandchildren, it was truly his passion.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Herbert is survived by his beloved wife, Michelle Olivarez of the home; children: Steven Olivarez of Dumas, TX, Stephanie Olivarez and husband Ryan Alarcon of Dumas, TX, Ricky Stewart and wife Dakota of San Diego, CA, Valorie Stewart and fiancé Ruben Valdez of Dumas, TX, Alayna Olivarez and fiancé Joshua Joslyn of Dumas, TX; brother: Edward Olivarez and wife Joandrea of FL; sisters: Jennifer Martinez of AL, Judy Olivarez of Albuquerque, NM, Barbara Henry of Dumas, TX and Tammy Swafford of Dumas, TX; grandchildren: Zoey Zambrano, Zailyn Olivarez, Elijaih Valdez, Jaide Valdez, Emily Alarcon, Kane Valdez; grandmother: Guadalupe Pollard of Amarillo, TX; father: Ed Olivarez and wife Marie of Albuquerque, NM.
