Howard Newton Bowen, 94 of Sunray passed away on Monday, March 2, 2020. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2 oclock in the afternoon on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at Bible Baptist Church with Pastor Seth Seale, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment will follow at Lane Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Directors.
Howard was born on September 6, 1925 in Wardville, OK to George and Maudie Moyers Weathers Bowen. He honorably served his country in the United States Army Air Corp from 1944 until 1946 in Germany. After his service, he was united in marriage to Allie McGill on December 6, 1947 in McAllister, OK; the couple would move to Moore County where Howard worked as a Pipefitter and retired as a Superintendent Pipefitter at Diamond Shamrock. Howard was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Sunray where he was the Sunday School Superintendent, was the song leader and performed numerous other duties for the church. Howard also loved to fish.
He was preceded in death by his wife Allie, by his parents, 20 siblings; granddaughter: Holly Shryock; and son-in-law: Robert Nelson.
Howard is survived by his daughters: Shirley Nelson of Winfield, KS, Sharon Hernandez and husband Manuel of Howardwick, TX, and Yvonneda Brown of Sunray, TX; grandchildren; Ray and Joy Bonner of Harper, KS, Kimberly Saenz and Norman Bonner both of Winfield, KS, Sherri Brough and husband Rick of Arkansas City, KS, Vincent Hernandez and wife Kim of Canyon, TX, Kay Lynda and Curtis Bull of Amarillo, TX, Windy Dooley of Hilo, HI, and Wade Brown of Sunray, TX; special nephew: Jammie Bowen of Amarillo, TX; 27 great-grandchildren and 39 great-great-grandchildren.
