Howard Paul Hinton 78 passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2008 in Amarillo, Texas. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 26, 2008 in First Baptist Church with Dr. Ed Rogers, retired minister officiating. Private interment will be at Lane Memorial Cemetery in Sunray. Family visitation will be held at First Baptist Church parlor, Friday, July 25, 2008, from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. Please use East entrance. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors.
Howard Hinton was born September 4, 1929 in Indianola, Oklahoma to I.G. and Myrtle Hinton. He moved from Oklahoma to Sunray in 1942. He attended Sunray High School where he was a member of the schools first football team. Howard married Caroline Worst of Sunray and they recently celebrated their 59th anniversary. He was a former resident of Gruver where he farmed. He was the first meter prover with Diamond Shamrock. In 1995 he retired as Superintendent of Pipelines and Terminals after a 41 year career. Howard loved to fish, hunt, work on his place, and work with children at church and backpack with his grandchildren. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 1009 where he served as Deputy Grand Master and a deacon of the First Baptist Church.
The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to the doctors and nurses of BSA Hospice and BSA Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Viola Richardson in 2007.
Survivors include; his wife, Caroline of the home; daughters, Stephanie Petersen of Grass Valley, CA, Starrla Myers and husband, Cody of Amarillo, Shelley Beedy and husband Kyle of Flower Mound; son, John Hinton and wife, Karen of Weatherford, TX; grandchildren, Kaci and Holt Myers, Ashley and Avery Beedy, Caitlin Petersen and Tristan and Hunter Hinton; sister, June Howard of Deer Park; and countless other relatives and friends.

The family will be at 109 Ted in Dumas. There will be a visitation for family and friends in First Baptist Church fellowship hall immediately after the service.
