Ida Belle Trammell, 94, of Dumas passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.
Ida Belle was born on July 28, 1927, in Dustin, OK to Dewey Lee and Gladys Opal (White) McKay. Ida Belle was a hard-worker and one day while picking cotton she met her future husband, AJ “Red” Trammell. They married in Hobart, OK on May 6, 1946, moving to Dumas and began their family at the Smelter camp. She was an avid reader, quilter, seamstress and enjoyed collecting red birds and bells. Ida Belle took on the role of caretaker for her family and even became known as the “official tooth puller.” Ida Belle was a life-long member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was of the Baptist faith and read her bible faithfully.
In addition to her husband AJ “Red”, she was preceded in death by her son: R.W. “Bud” Trammell; sons-in-law: Joe Stovall and Les Holder. 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
Ida Belle is survived by her daughters: Jeanne Stovall of Plainview, TX and Janet Sue Holder of Huntington, TX; daughter-in-law: Nancy Trammell of Peoria, AZ; brother: Don McKay of Dumas, TX; 6 grandchildren,13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; numerous other family members.
