Imogene Simpson, 90, of Dumas, passed away Saturday, June 2, 2018. Graveside services are scheduled for Thursday, June 7, at 10 o'clock in the morning in Carney Cemetery, in Carney, OK, with David Bell, Imogene's nephew, officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas.
Imogene was born January 12, 1928 in Dalton, Arkansas to Edgar and Odessa (Rice) Bell. She married Johnny Simpson on April 2, 1946 in Winfield, KS. In 1960 they made Sunray their home. He preceded her in death in 1994. In 2000, Imogene made Dumas her home. She was an excellent homemaker and raised 5 children. She loved to garden and canned the produce every summer. Imogene was a good cook and would always cook fried chicken for the family. She was an avid crafter and often crocheted dolls for her children and grandchildren. Imogene enjoyed taking care of her family and will be missed by them and all who knew her.
In addition to her husband and her parents, Imogene is preceded in death by a sister, two daughters, four brothers, a son in law, a sister in law, and a great grandson.
Imogene is survived by: daughters; Patsy Brooks of Dumas and Myra Henry of Georgia; son; Jimmy and Anita Simpson of Clarendon; sister: Kathleen Johnson of Bixby, OK; two sons in law: Jim Cox of Winsboro, TX and Richard Perry of Dumas and many numerous nieces and nephews.
