Ira B. Curtis, 87 of Dumas, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2015. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10 o'clock in the morning on Saturday August 8, 2015 at Church of Nazarene with Danny Hendricks, officiating. Family visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Friday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Dumas Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Ira was born on October 1, 1927, in Roosevelt, OK. He had been a resident of Dumas since 1948. On June 18, 1949, he was united in marriage to Colleen Spencer in Dumas; she preceded him in death on October 11, 2002. Ira proudly served his country in the US Navy.
Ira worked at the Masterson Helium Plant for many years as well as a cemetery caretaker. His favorite hobbies were reading, fishing, and horseback riding. He especially had a wonderful sense of humor. Ira was a member of the Church of Nazarene. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife, Colleen, he is preceded in death by his parents; sons: Ricky and Jerry Curtis; grandson: Alex Curtis.
Ira is survived his daughter: Terry Curtis of Sunray; grandchildren: Amy Barton and husband Nathan of Amarillo; Dan Curtis and wife Rachel of Clarkston, MI, Chuck Curtis and wife Pauline of Rochester, MI, Peter Curtis of Los Angeles, CA, Michelle Schlesselman of Thailand, and Nakita Curtis of OK, Michael Wren and wife Elizabeth of Amarillo, Jeramy Wren of Shreveport, LA, Lacie Ludwig of Colorado Springs, CO; great-grandchildren: Tyler Barton, Peyton Barton, Kambree Barton, Raelynne Wren, Norman Ludwig, Jazmyn Kosarek, John Curtis, Michael Curtis, and Jacob Curtis; brother: Murl Curtis of Hot Springs, AR; sister: Louise Carney of Denver, CO; daughter-in-law: Toni Curtis.
