J L Kuykendall, 92, formerly of Dumas, passed away in Amarillo early Wednesday morning, August 4, 2021. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at 10 o’ clock in the morning at First Assembly of God Church in Dumas with Rev. Damon Aikens, pastor of the church officiating. Interment will follow at Dumas Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 o’clock to 7 o’clock in the evening on Friday. Arrangements are entrusted with Beeson-Morrison Funeral Directors. J L was born July 7, 1929, in Mobeetie, TX to Jack and Virgie (Williams) Kuykendall. He enlisted in the Army in 1952 and served his country honorably, retiring from the Texas National Guard. J L married Martha Solomon in Sunray, TX November 7, 1958, and he worked for Diamond Shamrock until retiring in 1994. He was an avid reader and would fill in as a preacher at church when needed. J L loved his family, his country, and his church deeply but farming and being outdoors relaxed him. He was a faithful member of Dumas First Assembly of God church in Dumas. J L will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.In addition to his parents, J L is preceded in death by a sister; Doris Wall and a granddaughter: Aarika Kenemore.He is survived by his loving wife Martha of the home; daughter: Jean McDaniel and husband Whit of Dumas, TX; son: Larry Kuykendall and wife Stephanie of Amarillo, TX; sister: Mae Edge and husband Clinton of Austin, TX; brother: Bill Kuykendall of Dumas, TX; grandsons: Rustin Evanson of Dumas, TX and Kyler Kuykendall of Amarillo, TX; granddaughters: Lanie Kuykendall of Amarillo, TX and M’Kayla McDaniel of Dumas, TX; great-grandson: Arize Evanson of Dumas, TX: nephew: Scot Kuykendall of Dumas, TX; niece: Darlene Edge of Austin, TX and his special honorary granddaughters: Hannah and Emily Schwertner of Dumas, TX and many numerous other family and friends.The family requests with gratitude that memorials be made to the Dumas Senior Center, P.O.
