Dumas

Jack Jameson, 88 of Dumas, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. Graveside services will be held at 3 o’clock on Friday, February 28, 2025 at Dumas Cemetery with Amy Gonzalez (Dalhart Ministries) and Steve Swanson (Dumas Church of the Nazarene) officiating. Following services, a celebration of life will commence at the Frische Barn, CR 8 Dumas. Arrangements are entrusted to Beeson-Morrison Funeral Directors.

Born on December 6, 1936 to CM Jameson and Louetta (Cecil) Stewart, Jack spent most of his childhood in Quanah, Texas before moving to Dumas in 1952. After graduating from Dumas High School in 1956, Jack joined the US Army Reserves, serving 3 years. He then began his career at the West Texas Barber College in Amarillo, cutting a path that would define much of his life.

For 65 years, Jack was a prominent fixture at the Dumas Demon Barber shop, where his chair became more than a place for a trim; it was a hub of friendship, advice, and laughter. The stories he told were as unique as his tradition of rolling dice for a haircut. He became a confidant and friend to the many who sat before him, and those who barbered beside him, often forging multi-generational friendships.

As a passionate outdoorsman, Jack spent every possible weekend hunting quail, pheasants, and dove, or fishing in nature’s serene settings. His love for the outdoors extended to the softball field, where he coached girls’ softball teams, instilling in them the values of teamwork and perseverance. A fervent football fan, Jack’s enthusiasm for the game was infectious, and you could often find him cheering on the Dumas Demon Football team on Friday nights.

Described as funny, friendly, and passionate, Jack made an indelible impact on those around him. His ability to connect with people from all walks of life was unparalleled, and his presence could light up even the gloomiest of days. His memory is not just in the stories he told or the haircuts he gave, but in the countless lives he impacted with his boundless energy and generous spirit.

Jack was a family man, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He married Margaret (Werning) Knight in 1956, and over 19 years was blessed with 3 daughters (Diane Godsey, Kay Johnson, and Jamie Stevenson) and a son (Buddy Jack Jameson) who passed away in infancy. He then married Carolyn (Fox) Jameson in 1976, his wife of 46 years, and was a father to her children (Kelly Voelm, Missy Garcia, and Tammy Frye). He leaves behind his loved companion, Renee Ferguson, with whom he became engaged in December 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, a granddaughter, and his son. He will be greatly missed by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous extended family members and close friends.

The family will be at 101 Carson, the home of sister Peggie (Bobby) Richardson, and welcome visitors. In
