James Louis Benson

James Louis Benson, 73, passed away at his home on Saturday, January 8, 2011, following a lengthy illness of Alzheimers. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors James was born on October 10, 1937 in Des Moines, Iowa to Noah and Cora Benson. They preceded him in death. He has one brother, Bob Benson and one sister, Betty Musters, both of Iowa. James had four college degrees and was a graduate of SMU. He served several churches in the Dallas area before settling into the YMCA for 30 years. He supervised the local YMCA for 10 years. James is survived by two children, Toni Upton and husband Jody and Mark Moore and wife Chris and 3 grandchildren, Nicole Moore, Lindsey Upton and Jarrod Upton. Jim wanted his body donated to the Amarillo Texas Tech Medical School for research and teaching purposes. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be given to a favorite charity.
