James Leroy Hansford, 86, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2009 in Spearman. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, April 20, 2009 at Bible Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Korsmo, pastor of the church, Rev. H.L. Stevens, retired Assembly of God minister and Tom Moore, longtime family friend officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors.
James Leroy Hansford was born June 14, 1922 in Sipe Springs, Comanche County, Texas to William and Nellie Hansford. He retired after 40 years as a field supervisor with Diamond Shamrock. He was an independent oil and gas consultant until 2008. He also worked with Gordon Taylor and Family. He loved to hunt and fish and was a 54 year Master Mason Grand Lodge. Mr. Hansford had been a resident of Dumas since 1943 and was a member of Bible Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Bobbie Lucille Hansford on January 28, 1995, his daughter, Rita Kay Bentley Hansford on March 14, 2005 and his second wife, Phyllis Ann Hansford on July 19, 2008.
Survivors include; daughter, Barbara Telischak and husband Steve of Amarillo; grandchildren, Kay Kennel and husband, Dr. Dietmar Kennel of Lubbock, Timothy James Glass and wife Lexy of Gruver, Tammila Sue Lueder, Tonya Lynn Silvey both of Amarillo, Shane Micah Telischak of Marshall and Theresa Dawn Hernandez of So. Milwaukee, WI; great-grandchildren, Kalissa and Kinsey Byrd of Lubbock, Bailey and Payten Glass of Gruver, Charles, Joseph, Sean-Michael, Fernando, Ethan, Cassandra, and Kacie; great-great-grandchildren, Harold, Scarlett, Lillian and Zack; and brother, Billy Joe Hansford of Boerne.
The family suggests memorials to Bible Baptist Church, Building Fund, 222 W. 1st, Dumas, TX 79029 or to the Alzheimer Association, 415 W. 8th, Suite 300, Amarillo, TX 79101.
The family will be at 111 Etling in Gruver.
