James Odell Mebane

October 23, 1926 — April 6, 2011

James Odell Mebane, 84, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2011. Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at First United Methodist Church in Dumas. Rev. John Sanders, pastor of the church will be officiating. The family will have a visitation on Friday, April 8th from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Dumas Cemetery. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. James was born on October 23, 1926 in Snyder, Texas to P.A. and Nelle Wilson Mebane. He married Zonelle Howell on May 12, 1946 in Snyder. James graduated from Snyder High School. He retired from Natural Gas Pipeline where he was employed as a foreman. He also farmed and ranched for thirtyfive years in Moore County. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 1009 of Dumas and the First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Doyle Mebane, Thayne Mebane and Nuell Mebane. James is survived by his wife Zonelle of the home one son, Jimmy Mebane and wife Connie of Borger one daughter, Dorothy Beauchamp and husband Cuffy of Dumas one sisterinlaw, Coy Mebane of Chico, California seven grandchildren, Jeremy Mebane and wife Heather, Callie Beauchamp, Tish Ramirez, Jaymie Venhaus and husband Dave, Abby Hess and husband Kurt, Emily Mooring and husband Brad, and Lacey Hahn and husband Derek and eight greatgrandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Memorial Home Health,224 E. 2nd, Dumas, TX 79029 or to First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 395, Dumas, TX 79029. The family will be at 110 Armstrong in Dumas.
