James 'Big Boy' Robbins, 92 formerly of Dumas, passed away on Wednesday June 15, 2016. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 o'clock in the morning on Monday, June 20, 2016 at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jay McGaughy, pastor of Temple Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Dumas Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post #224 in Dumas. Services are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
James was born on June 9, 1924 in Reydon, OK to Jodie and Etta (Morehead) Robbins. He enlisted in the United States Marines where he proudly served his country during WWII. He later moved to Dumas where he worked at the smelter as a welder.
He loved watching western movies, reading Zane Gray books, and working in his garden. He also enjoyed talking military with his friend Ryan.
He is preceded in death by his wife Josephine; sisters: Ruby Burnett, Pearl Hilburne, Eluveda Eagleston, Opal Herring, Mildred Ballen; brothers: Roy, J.C. and Vernon Robbins.
James is survived by his sister: Ann Seba and husband Gary of Lubbock; brother: Bill Robbins and wife Fran of Amarillo; sister: Nona Miller of Snowflake, AZ; niece: Janice Miller of Crowley, TX; and many other nieces and nephews: his special Marine friend: Ryan Schalles; and his beloved companion dog: Jack Jack.
